About Simon Blakey

Simon runs Avonmore Developments - the vehicle that he and his brother Michael use to discover great investable businesses at the seed/early-stage. Since 2000 we’ve invested in over 30 UK businesses and 70+ funding rounds. Michael runs our Singapore office (Cocoon Capital - a $30M seed-stage fund and covering SE Asia) that has been operating for 5 years and made 10+ investments to date. Simon is also a non-exec at Playfair Capital (£25M VC early-stage fund), is a member of Cambridge Angels and on the Investment Committee of the Angel Cofund.

Please note that we avoid B2C-focussed opportunities and are focussed on B2B, SaaS and deep tech opportunities at the current time, investing between £50-250k in an initial round and following on up to Series A.

Avonmore has achieved numerous profitable exits - OC Robotics (2017 sale to GE Aviation), Bybox (seed investment to >£70M turnover without further funding - MBO in 2016 for £105M), Buzzmove (2014 seed investment sold to White Mountain Insurance Group in 2016) Omega Logic (Sale to Eposs Ltd), Pout (Sale to Catterton Partners) Commerce Decisions (Sale to QinetiQ) and Tagman (Sale to Ensighten). Of course failures have also happened too :-)

Current UK investments include Trouva (2013 investment alongside Index Ventures/Octopus, $10M Series A in 2017), Ventrata, Reposit, Vine Health, Chattermill,  Audiense (formerly Socialbro), Specle, Virtual IT, CareLineLive and several others.  We are actively looking for early-stage, investment opportunities and continue to support current portfolio companies in further financing rounds.
